With heartfelt harmonies and songs that smolder, Wren + Wilde brings their signature smoke folk sound to the Minnesota music scene. Fronted by leading ladies Hilary Yoder and Beth Olivares, the band’s gritty flavor of Americana is both raw and resonant, with equal parts fire and feeling.
Hilary was born in Minnesota and raised on a steady diet of bluegrass and Americana, with the voices of John Prine and Emmylou Harris echoing through her home. She went on to study songwriting in Tennessee where she met her husband and drummer, Corey Yoder. Together, they formed the Americana duo The Passerine and toured the southern circuit before settling in Minnesota to raise a family. Beth, born in Minnesota and raised in Australia, brings a rich blend of influences—from jazz to soul—shaped by a childhood filled with The Beatles and Etta James.
Hilary and Beth met in a local dance class while navigating life as young moms and instantly connected over their musical backgrounds and shared love for honest storytelling. A spontaneous singing session revealed something undeniable in their vocal blend and the duo was formed. Drawn to a fuller sound, Hilary and Corey recruited guitarist André Desautel, and bassist Mitch Jones, to bring Wren + Wilde to life.
With influences ranging from Fleetwood Mac and Brandi Carlile to First Aid Kit and Ryan Adams, Wren + Wilde delivers a sound that is both familiar and fresh. Their songs explore themes of resilience, connection, and hope, grounded in roots music but never afraid to push the edges. Whether on a big stage or in a cozy venue, their performances feel like a shared conversation, lit by glowing harmonies and honest lyrics.
Wren + Wilde has performed across the Midwest at festivals like Hudson's Hometown Music Fest and Rochester's Thursdays Downtown as well the Harriet Bandshell, MN State Fair and honored venues throughout the Twin Cities like the Aster Cafe.
Praised for their “gorgeously delivered harmonies” and “deeply felt artistic expression” (Emmy Woods), the band released their debut single "The Ring" in May of 2025. They are currently in the studio with more new music slated for release in late 2025.
